A key export policy change will greatly impact the global lithium battery trade: China’s 6% export tax rebate for lithium batteries will be fully canceled starting January 1, 2027, resulting in a6% product price increase across the industry.

Due to the 45–50 day full export cycle covering production, shipping and customs clearance, the industry will initiate price adjustments as early as November 2026. Preemptive bulk stocking by global buyers is already driving up cell costs, further pushing market prices upward ahead of the official policy implementation.

Compounding the price risk, dangerous goods (DG) warehouse spaces and shipping slots will face extreme shortage at the end of 2026. Year-end export peak demand will lead to tight reservations and potential shipment delays for lithium battery orders.
